Communication is the key to planning any great trip. But how can you communicate when your family may be far flung? I am a firm believer in the power of group e-mails. You have the cc function for a reason – use it! Keeping everyone in the loop when making decisions ensures that everyone gets at least some of their needs met. Other great options include conference calls or even a newsletter from the appointed "planner."
If your family is local "Disney Dinners" can be a great way to combine a family meal with a planning session. With my in laws, we had a cook out at their house one night and all sat out on the back deck, PassPorters in hand, hashing out the details of our itinerary and dining plans.
