Panama Canal: Day 9 - Sea day - again!

May 20th, 2008 - by Beci

A second day at sea… I must admit I was skeptical about how I would do with so many days at sea….  but now that I am over halfway through the voyage I really like the forced relaxation.

Today is much like yesterday.  A warm, clear morning although the sea is slightly rougher. < more... >

Panama Canal: Day 8 - Sea & Souflee Day!

May 19th, 2008 - by Beci

Wow……  day 8….  Really????  Personally I prefer to look at it like its the first day of our next 7 day vacation.

Today was a leisurely day enjoying the ship including Spa Jackpot Bingo, the beginning of a ship wide mystery game called “Desperate Shipmates’ and you can even learn how to waltz today too!

Panama Canal: Day 7 - Beci’s pics

May 19th, 2008 - by Beci

Its very hard to describe the awe. Passing through the Panama Canal was one of my personal ‘life list’ items and it certainly was a day that I will not soon forget….  especially sharing with friends and people wedged in so tight at the bow of the ship that they are certainly friends now.

Panama Canal Day 7: Gatun Locks (2 of 4)

May 18th, 2008 - by Chris

The first part of the journey is to leave the saltwater on the Atlantic side of the canal. To do that we have to slide our 970+ foot x106 foot ship into a space 1000 feet by 110 feet. The Magic is a “Panamax” ship. It is the maximum length and width for any ship passing thru the canal. < more... >

Panama Canal Day 7: Transit Prep (1 of 4)

May 18th, 2008 - by Chris

Let me take a moment to apologize for two things. First, the delay in getting this posted, which was caused by an Internet outage on the ship followed by some insane technical problems on my laptop. Second, the fact that some of the web cams were out during our transit. < more... >
