Vibe is the place to be for teens onboard the Disney Dream. Located on Deck 5 forward, this indoor/outdoor space is for kids ages 14 - 17. Inside is part nightclub, part coffee house, the lounge offers a coffee bar, dance floor and DJ, a movie room with 103-inch LCD screen, and personal pods for those wanting to chill out and listen to music or play a video game.  Outside is a teen-only water area featuring "splash" pools, pop jet fountains and misters. That plus lounge chairs and "old school" games makes for the ultimate spot for fun in the sun.

Best of all, while there are no "grown up" guests allowed (teens get their own special Key to the World card for access), Mom & Dad don’t have to worry as the lounge is fully staffed by counselors.

Happy Anniversary! It was a year ago today that I began this blog. Some weeks I’ve been good at posting daily, some weeks… not so much.  Believe me, it isn’t for a lack of things to say. Anyone who knows me knows I NEVER lack for something to say! It was simply a lack of time. I’m a busy Mom juggling work, family, volunteering, etc. But I want to thank you for reading!

It was my intention to post interesting, sometimes humorous, sometimes serious bits of information. I hope that I have been successful! A while back I started covering Disney Cruise Lines newest ship, the disney Dream. Let’s get back to that, shall we?

Edge is a loft-style lounge that caters to the Tween crowd (ages 11 - 13). Located Forward on Deck 13, Edge is part club, part tech lab and part hang out. Dance on the lit dance floor, create videos using the state-of-the-art green screen technology or watch riders whiz by the window on the AquaDuck. Best of all, Edge will feature an onboard social media network  to help tweens keep in touch with fellow cruisers. Take that Facebook!

Large families rejoice! Disney is FINALLY building a new resort with you in mind. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, a Value Resort set to open in 2012, will feature 2,000 rooms. 1,120 of these rooms will be suites that sleep up to six people, similar to the Family Suites at All Star Music. The remaining 864 rooms will be traditional hotel rooms. 

The resort is being built on 65 acres across from Pop Century. The land was originally intended to be Phase II of Pop Century. The resort will be divided into four sections with themes based on Disney animated classics - The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Cars, and Finding Nemo.

Now back to my coverage of the Disney Dream… Up next - the Oceaneer’s Lab! The Oceaneer’s Lab is for kids ages 3 - 10 and is connected to the Oceaneer’s Club by a workshop and library where kids can conduct experiments, cook and find other ways to get their hands dirty! The main hall features a stage can both watch and perform. Much like Crush in the Oceaneer’s Club, Stitch appears in the Lab’s main hall and interacts in real-time with the kids. Then there are studios where kids can learn and try their hands at animation, crafts, music, video games and a place to kick back and watch a movie.

So your three year old is FINALLY potty-trained and ready for the Kid’s Clubs onboard the Disney Dream. It’s a toss-up who is more excited, you or them! Kids ages 3 - 10 with a flair for imaginative play will be right at home here. The main area sparkles with pixie dust and doors leading to other "lands" such as Pixie Hollow, Andy’s Room, Monster’s Academy and the Explorer Pod. The main area is also where the kids can meet Crush from Finding Nemo! 

Each lands offers unique experiences. Pixie Hollow offers dress-up, crafts and storytelling. Andy’s Room features larger than life toys and playscapes. Monster’s Academy features playscapes and computer games. And the Nemo Sub in the Explorer Pod has 16 computers for individual or group play.

The youngest cruisers have a space to call their own on Deck 5 - the It’s a Small World Nursery. This nursery provides child care for children from 3 months - 3 years for an additional fee. The nursery’s decor was inspired by the original Disneyland attraction, and is divided in to three areas. One area where your child can adjust to the nursery before choosing an activity, the main play area with activities and toys and a quiet area for naps. Parents are asked to provide bottles, formula, baby food, diapers, etc for their child’s stay as well as any blanket/lovie/pacifier that may be needed for nap time.
